There are many sleep experts, sleep clinics and aries books out there that could tell you how to sleep better. I’ll try to keep it to the basics, to those who understand what they’re doing in the first place.
Insomnia can be treated by relaxing when one wakes up, starting at about the time you feel a small discomfort. One way of relaxing is to lay down on your back, and breathe deeply, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth. Do this several times, taking deep breaths to make the effort work.
Most people fall asleep within about five minutes. Sometimes, it takes only a few seconds.
When you’re trying to get a good night’s sleep, then, it pays to do all this after about the same time. If you sleep in the morning, try to take a hot shower, drink some warm milk and drink a warm glass of orange juice.
The universe likes this combination, and it becomes a special feeling. If you eat something or drink something before bedtime, then the foods or liquids must not have caffeine. It is fine to have some coffee or tea.
This is another helpful tip for how to sleep better. Try to avoid sleeping pills as much as possible. I do not recommend drinking alcohol before bed.
If you do drink anything before you go to bed, take a small step up to three hours, four hours, or even more. You may also need to change the position of your body, so that it is more comfortable for you to sleep.
You may need to sleep in a different room, or have someone to sleep with you. As soon as you get up in the morning, start to get up in a different position. I like to start with sitting up in bed, but if you feel uncomfortable doing that, take a nap and try again.
Many people try to control their sleep through the use of medications. If you are using sleeping pills to sleep better, then you might want to switch to something else.
People who are suffering from insomnia should not be sleep deprived. I like to encourage people to go to bed an hour or two earlier. If you have trouble falling asleep, try to go to bed an hour or two later.
Get ready with your favorite CD or watch your favorite movie. As soon as you get up in the morning, set up your surroundings so that you will feel comfortable. Just change the temperature of your bedroom and change your light.
If you are sleeping right, don’t get angry at yourself. That way, you’re helping yourself and others.
